Once upon a time, a farmer was tilling his field when he suddenly saw a hare darting past and crashing into a large tree, dying instantly. Without any effort, the farmer enjoyed the hare's meat and felt extremely delighted. He thought to himself, "How wonderful it would be if this could always happen!" So, he stopped tilling his land and waited by the tree every day, hoping to pick up another hare that had run into it and died. He waited and waited, day after day, until his fields lay fallow, but no second hare ever came. People, therefore, ridiculed him for taking a chance occurrence as a certainty.
