Legend has it that the Potala Palace was constructed by Songtsen Gampo to welcome Princess Wencheng. Characterized by a distinct Tibetan style, the Potala Palace is built against the mountain, exuding a magnificent presence. Standing at 115 meters tall and spanning 13 floors, its main structure is divided into the Red Palace and the White Palace, with the Red Palace positioned centrally and the White Palace flanking it on either side. The Red Palace houses coffin towers for successive Dalai Lamas, as well as various Buddhist temples and scripture shrines.
