Dozens of firms have already set up operation in the South American country, in particular companies from Brazil.
78 companies set up operations in Paraguay between 2013 and 2016 under the Maquila Law, creating nearly 6,425 jobs. about two-thirds of the investment is estimated to have come from Brazil, according to data from Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Some analysts questioned if the tax benefits for the companies that took advantage of the Maquila law were being fairly shared with the workers.
